A. External valve view in SEM. The valve face is concentrically undulate. A single central strutted process (csp) is present, which is typical for this species, and appears as a raised puncta. Spines (s) are present around the circumference of the valve occurring at each inter fascicle. The marginal strutted processes’ (msp) short external tubular extensions are also apparent appearing below every third to fourth spine. The external opening of the labiate process, not seen here, also appears beneath a spine as a simple pore. Scale bar equals five microns.
